Video Requirements:
You are required to submit an audition video as a part of your application. Please upload your audition video in the Portfolio section of the graduate application. In addition to uploading your audition video to the graduate application, please make your video available online using YouTube, Vimeo, or a similar platform. Please upload a separate document to the Portfolio section of the graduate application listing the link to your video, and password if needed. Please note: Your audition video will be viewed by ABT faculty and staff affiliated with the NYU Steinhardt Dance Education program. The online video audition should be 10 minutes maximum and include work at the barre and in the center consisting of an adagio, petit allegro and grand allegro, as well as a port de bras exercise and pirouette combination with both en dehors and en dedans turns. Only one side of each exercise needs to be demonstrated.Audition Description
New York University and American Ballet Theatre partner to offer the original graduate program in dance education. In this program, graduate students work toward their Master of Arts Degree in Teaching Dance in the Professions with a certificate in ABT Ballet Pedagogy. This program prepares graduates for employment in multiple settings including private studios, conservatories, company schools, as teaching-artists, and through community outreach studios. Students are also equipped for further doctoral study in dance education and teaching in higher education. The applicant for this track is an accomplished ballet dancer who wants to develop pedagogical content in this art form.
