The Beginning Division is for young dancers ages 3 to 6 and includes Beginning levels A, B, and C. Classes are offered by age and are carefully developed in accordance with a child’s physical and cognitive abilities. Children’s classes are structured to place students in a safe and nurturing environment, and parents are invited to watch class during scheduled parent watch weeks. The Elementary Division is for young dancers ages 7 to 12 and includes Elementary Levels A, B, and C. Classes are offered by age and are carefully developed in accordance with a child’s physical and cognitive abilities. Children’s classes are structured to place students in a safe and nurturing environment, and parents are invited to watch class during scheduled parent watch weeks. Ballet Levels 1 through 8 are designed for students ages 10 and up. Acceptance and placement is determined by an audition held before the new fall season, or an audition can be arranged with the Ballet West Academy Director. Promotions are considered on an individual basis and are determined in part by an examination demonstrated at the end of the school year in conjunction with an evaluation by the Ballet West Academy Director and Principal Faculty. Students in this division can expect to spend more than one year in each level. Students in Levels 1 through 8 perform in the Ballet West Academy Spring Production.

Levels 5-8 are part of our Advanced Division in Park City. The Advanced Division is the highest level in the Academy before the Professional Training Division. Students at this level study 5 days per week in ballet curriculum and also in the additional dance genres necessary for their preparation for a professional dance career or entry into a college dance program. Additional benefits of these upper levels is mentoring from the Academy faculty to help students navigate their future in dance.
