Children ages 6 and up will be selected to fill roles including party children, mice, rats, soldiers, angels, snowflakes, flowers, and others. Participants should arrive at Guzmán’s Dance Studio 20 minutes before their time slot. Children must have turned 6 years old by Aug. 17, 2024. Rehearsing for and performing in CNY Ballet's production of “The Nutcracker” alongside our professional dancers is an amazing experience for dance students, whether they’re aiming to be professional dancers or just enjoy being on stage. “The Nutcracker” will be performed on December 20, 21, and 22 - with shows at 7:00pm, 2:00pm and 6:00pm, and 12:00pm and 4:00 pm, respectively. CNYB is also looking for adult guest dancers to cast in certain character roles in Act I. If you are interested please email [email protected] Attire Dancers should come dressed in classical ballet attire for the audition: Tights, leotard, and ballet shoes (no skirts), hair in a bun. No dangling jewelry. OR Trim fitted t-shirt or leotard, tights or bicycle shorts, ballet shoes, jazz shoes or socks. Some dancers may be asked to stay longer to be seen for a more advanced role. We will email the results of the audition within one week of the audition. If your child is chosen for a role, you will be asked to look carefully at the rehearsal schedule and sign a contract stating your child’s commitment to the rehearsal times and performances. Rehearsals begin in early October. Generally, rehearsals take place on weekends and evenings. As the performance dates get closer, rehearsals will be more frequent. Additional time slots will be scheduled for costume fittings, usually before or after a scheduled rehearsal. There will be technical and dress rehearsals at the theater during the week of December 15. Please be aware, as this is a professional production, attendance at all rehearsals is extremely important. We will provide advance notice of all rehearsals so you can plan accordingly. Cast members are allowed one excused absence before December 1st, 2024. If a cast member cannot participate because of the attendance policy, the Artistic Staff may assign roles to someone else. Virtual auditioners for the youth cast must be local to Syracuse or the CNY area.
