Kecskemét City Ballet operates in the Katona József National Theatre in Kecskemét, under the artistic direction of Dóra Barta. Choreographies by the artist, which characterise the company's unique style, are visceral, poetic and richly emotional all at once. The ensemble, even as the dance department of the theatre, has created a new facet in the cultural life of Kecskemét. Their independent dance theatre performances combine the characteristics of classical ballet and modern dance, and their dynamic, dramatically saturated productions create unforgettable memories for many. KCB, in close cooperation with the theatre, has developed a wide repertoire. The tone, the tools and the target audience are always different, but the performances are all still recognisable as unmistakeably Kecskemét City Ballet. In a relatively short period of time, the young company has become an unavoidable part of the Hungarian dance scene. Commitment to dance and high quality are the trademarks of the company. The director of Kecskemét City Ballet is Dóra Barta, Harangozó Prize winner and Artist of Merit.
