Metropolitan’s Boys’ Scholarship Program provides tuition-free classical dance training in all-male classes, led by distinguished male faculty. Since 1999, over 425 boys have enrolled, receiving over $1.7 million in scholarships. Up to 50 boys train and perform each year, making our program one of the largest in the nation. Our self-proclaimed “MET MEN” are inspiring young people, yet many of them would not be able to afford dance training without scholarship assistance. Here they find supportive mentors and develop athleticism, strength, and time management skills. All-male classes provide a community where life-long friendships are forged. Some continue to dance professionally, several with major ballet companies, while others head off to college or other career paths: their classical training remains key to their success.
