MorDance

In January 2013, with less than one-third of US ballet companies being led by females, Morgan McEwen made moves to tip the scale by launching MorDance. In six years the company has excelled at achieving their mission to embody excellence in the performing arts through the creation of new works, live performances, and extensive outreach that nurtures and empowers at-risk youth in our community. MorDance has not only grown their audience by 650% over this time but also attained artistic merit; being named the 2016 resident dance company of The Sheen Center, receiving a 2018 CUNY Dance Initiative Residency Grant, and a Kaatsbaan Upstream Residency. The company has also been hailed by the New York Times as a “crisp” and “clean” dance maker with “an eye for shaping the arc of a dance as carefully as the transitions and details within it.”
