Nuevo Tango Ballet is rooted in Tango and connected to the music, poetry and history of the genre from the traditional to its newest iteration. Our work aims to expand the boundaries and the perception of Tango as an artistic language by contemporizing the traditional form with elements of modern dance, classical ballet, dance theater, by creating new narratives, reexamining gender roles and themes of liberty, inspiration and love. Nuevo Tango Ballet forms part of Leonardo Suarez Paz's PIAZZOLLA 100 as an integral aspect of the project's multidisciplinary nature which is modernizing the genre, while paying homage to Tango's roots as a folkloric and traditional art form in which the dance, music and visual art and storytelling are inseparable.
