Santa Cruz Ballet Theatre

Founded in 1982 as a non profit organization, Santa Cruz Ballet Theatre is a pre-professional company of talented dancers who are dedicated to their pursuit of this beautiful and demanding art form. SCBT has graduated many dancers into the field of professional ballet, and upholds the high standards of The Ballet Alliance, though which our dancers receive scholarship opportunities and are seen by recruiters from top professional companies, schools and college/university dance programs. Santa Cruz Ballet Theatre employs a fully professional orchestra for its annual "The Nutcracker" as well as a Music Director; both are rarities among pre-professional companies in this country (with the exception for 2020 due to the pandemic). SCBT builds leaders in our dancers by instilling work ethic, organizational skills, self-confidence, cognitive thinking and teamwork that will serve them all of their lives.
