Shades Dance Theater is seeking dancers for our 2026 season. We are especially searching for dynamic soloists who can transition seamlessly into ensemble work. The audition will be held on November 9, 2025 from 12:00-3:30 at the Ailey Studios (NYC). This audition is by invite only. Dancers should submit their audition materials for consideration by November 1. For more details on compensation please refer to the audition application. Dancers of all races and ethnic backgrounds are welcome, and we especially encourage artists of color to audition. We look forward to experiencing the artistry and individuality you bring to our 2025-2026 season. - New for 2026: Extended Engagement Program For the 2026 season, Shades Dance Theater is excited to introduce an Extended Engagement Program for dancers currently enrolled in a collegiate dance program or conservatory in NYC, or those actively dancing with another organization or company, who want to earn credit or gain professional experience as freelance artists. Because Shades’ season primarily rehearses on weekends, we will work with accepted dancers to build a schedule that accommodates their academic or professional commitments. This structure supports dancers while giving them a professional company experience. Our season concludes in June 2026, allowing dancers to enjoy their summer break or begin new contracts with other companies starting in July 2026. Exceptional dancers from this program will be considered for ongoing work with Shades Dance Theater in future seasons.
