The Ballet of the State Opera-Rousse was founded in 1949. The first ballet production was "The Puppet Fairy" by Josef Bayer, presented on March 7, 1952. The director was the great Bulgarian ballet master Asen Manolov. The creative path of the Ruse Ballet troupe is long and rich. His joint work with famous Bulgarian and foreign choreographers ranks him among the most renowned and leading ballet companies in the country. Ruse ballet artists have worked with almost all famous Bulgarian ballet masters - Asen Manolov, Asen Gavrilov, Petar Lukanov, Margarita Arnaudova, Kalina Bogoeva, Hikmet Mehmedov and foreign choreographers Giancarlo Vantaggio, Vytautas Grivitskas, Viktor Vlase, Vilen Galstyan, Antol Fodor, Alain Bernard, Natalia Osipova.
