Description

The Tanner Dance Contemporary Companies are performing groups that train technically strong and versatile movers, engaging and confident performers, and inventive choreographers. The Contemporary Companies train students for expert level concert dance performance rather competitive conferences. The curriculum focuses on contemporary technique, improvisation, and choreography in a variety of dance styles. The program is designed to be an elevated junior high and high school dance company experience. There are three levels in the program: In Motion (beginning), Momentum (intermediate) and Tipping Point (advanced). Company members have been accepted to dance programs at the University of Utah, Utah Valley University, Brigham Young University, Philadelphia School for the Arts, Boston Conservatory, SUNY Purchase, the Bates Dance Festival, and Joffrey Ballet’s Summer Intensive. Many of the dancers have received Utah’s Dance Sterling Scholar Award, and several have gone on to professional careers in dance.
