Part 1: Recorded Interview
Film yourself responding to the following prompts:
Why are you applying to the Drexel Dance program?
What role does dance play in your life, and why is it important to you?
How would you describe the way you work with others in a dance class, rehearsal, or creative process?
Tell us about your involvement in the dance community and any contributions you’ve made to your broader community outside of dance.
Where do you see yourself one to three years after graduating from college, and how do you imagine dance playing a role in that future?
Part II: Audition Phrases
Select any two of the five dance genres below. Either follow the instructions (if you choose ballet) or click on the link (for modern, jazz, hip hop, or West African. Submit a clear, complete video of yourself performing your two selected genres.
a. Ballet
Please provide a video not exceeding 10 minutes. The video must include Barre and Center work. All work at the barre to include one side only
Barre: Plies, Battement Tendus, Battement Jetés, Adage, Grand Battement
Center: Adage, Pirouettes, Petit Allegro, Grand Allegro
b. Modern (video with Val Ifill)
c. Jazz (video with Britt Fishel)
d. Hip-Hop (video with Clyde Evans)
e. West African Pt. 1 + West African Pt 2. (video with Antoinette Coward-Glimore)
Part III: Prepared Solo
Prepare a 90-second solo in any dance form. Use this opportunity to show us who you are and how you love to move. You may use music, text, soundtrack, or silence.
